Making your own tools can help you to feel independent and empowered. Once you learn the finer points of tool making, you can make just about any tool type to match your own specifications.

If you are trying to make plastic or light metal tools, then using molds can help with your tool design. To do this, you can either make your own mold (usually out of clay or another extremely malleable material) or hire a molding company to make the mold for you. From there, you will pour the melted plastic or metal into the mold to make your final product. Of course, melting plastics or metals means working with extremely high temperatures, so only use this route if you have experience with it.
3D Printers
People who already own 3D printers can use them to make some parts of tools. Namely, they are best used when it comes to making handles for tools. 3D printers use plastic to make all of its creations, so it cannot be used to make metal tools.
These printers can also be used to make plastic molds. These molds are great if they are used for their own sake. However, they are too fragile to be used to make other tools, as they could not withstand the heat from melted metal or plastic.
Wood
Another great way to make a handle is to try your hand at woodworking. Wooden handles are perfect for tools like hammers, saws, and axes. However, you will need some practice before you can make a quality product. Luckily, there are many beginner woodworking classes available in person and online that can teach you the necessary skills needed to make a tool handle.
Whether you want to make an entire tool from scratch or just make part of a tool, you can use these methods. If you play your cards right, you may be able t use all three to make one great product.
